How I Work

Every person who walks through my door or joins me online brings a story that is entirely their own. I don't work from a script or a fixed formula. My approach is shaped by you: your pace, your needs, and what feels safe at any given moment.
At the heart of how I work is one simple belief: the relationship between us matters more than any technique. When you feel genuinely heard and safe, that's where real change begins.
-
In practice, this means I work in a way that is:
-
Collaborative — you are never a passive recipient of advice. We work together.
-
Non-judgmental — whatever you bring, I meet it with curiosity, not evaluation.
-
Trauma-informed — I understand that many struggles have roots we don't always see, and I work with care and sensitivity around that.
-
Culturally aware — identity, background, and lived experience shape everything. I bring that awareness into every session.
-
At your pace — healing is not linear, and I will never rush yours.

Meet Ali
Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC)
I came to this work through my own life. I know what it means to face loss, to rebuild identity, to navigate systems and societies that weren't designed with you in mind and to find, eventually, that those experiences became the foundation of how I show up for others.
I bring to every session not just training, but genuine understanding of what it means to be human in a complicated world. I've lived across cultures, faced unexpected change, and learned that resilience isn't the absence of struggle, it's what quietly grows inside it.
After five years as a counsellor, what I trust most is the relationship itself. Not the technique, not the framework , the moment a person feels safe enough to speak honestly. That's where real change begins.
Who I Work With
I work with people whose lives don't fit neatly into one box and who need a counsellor who understands that.
LGBTQ+ individuals exploring identity, navigating coming out, or simply needing a space free of judgment
People navigating identity shifts when who you were no longer fits who you are becoming
Immigrants and people in cultural transition, carrying two worlds, rebuilding one life
People living with disabilities or chronic illnesses are adjusting, grieving, and finding solid ground
Seniors and people navigating aging speaking honestly about what this chapter holds
People carrying grief and loss, whatever you've lost, it deserves space and time
Trauma survivors at whatever pace feels safe, with no pressure to have the right words
People navigating cultural or religious identity holding the tension between where you came from and who you are becoming
People in non-traditional relationships respected, not questioned
People in major life transitions when the old life has ended and the new one hasn't begun
